Family Pics

We had a friend from church take our pictures a couple weeks ago. Here's one to give you a glimpse of what's to come. She's dropping the rest off tomorrow, so I'll be posting more soon.

6 months

Okay, so it's been a long time since the last update. I can't believe I haven't posted anything since August! School's been crazy buzy! Well, as you know, Weston recently turned 6 months old. Yes, it's hard to believe. Everyone says that it goes fast, but I didn't realize it would go that fast! Well, Weston went for his 6 month check up recently and he now wieghs a whopping 21 lbs 8 oz and is 28 inches long. He's moved from the 98% to the 90% in both wieght and height. He's getting so big and trying out new things daily. Lately, he's started rolling around to get acroos the room. And, just the other day, he started push up on his hands and knees and scooting backward. I assume this means he'll crawl around 7 months. Also, he's babbling up a storm and screaming just to hear himself. We adore him and are so blessed to have baby Weston in our lives. Enjoy the pics! Look for some Halloween and family pics soon!

Feeding Time

I love my fingers!

From day one, Weston refused a pacifier; now he has suddenly discovered the joy of his fingers.

Fun in My Jumperoo

Weston has been enjoying his Jumperoo daily! He is especially fascinated by the music and lights. This video was taken a few weeks ago and, at the time, his feet barely touched the ground. Now his feet completely touch the bottom and he can turn himself 360 degrees to touch everything on the Jumperoo.

4 Months!

Wow! I can't believe how quickly these last 4 months have flown by. It seems like just yesterday we were bringing our little man home. Weston continues to get bigger by the minute. We went to the doctor last Friday and discovered that Weston now weighs 18 lbs 9 oz. (he's in the 97 percentile for weight). He's doing everything a 4 month old baby should: he smiles at everyone, he coos, he giggles (especially when you tickle his chunky thighs), he blows bubbles, he rolls from his stomach to his back and from his back to his side (we're not quite to our tummy, yet), and now he's even trying to sit up. We also started him on cereal twice per day, mainly because we can't get him to take a bottle and he needs to be eating something during the day while he's at the sitter. Speaking of the sitter, yes, sadly, I go back to work beginning the 18th of this month. I'm sad to be leaving Weston, but I'm looking forward to the routine that working brings and the ability to converse with other adults again. And, since I'm returning to work, we've begun "sleep training". Yes, it's as bad as it sounds. We're working on getting Weston to sleep in his crib in his room through the entire night. Up until now, he's been in our room in the pack-n-play and waking 2-3 times per night to feed. Now, we're working on getting him to sleep through the night without feeding. We first began our sleep training Sunday night (it was tough hearing our little guy cry himself to sleep) and last night, he did really well, sleeping from 10:30 pm until 4:30 am. Hopefully tonight will be even better. Well, sorry this post is so long. I will try not to go so long between my next posts so that I will not have to cram tons of info into one post.

Splish Splash

Weston's making all kinds of noises lately, especially in the morning and during his bath. Here's a sampling of his fantastic cooing ability.

More Pics from the 4th

July 4th

For July 4th, we packed up and headed to Oklahoma. We decided Weston needed to meet his extended family, so we took a weeklong trek through Texas and Oklahoma. Our first stop was at Mimi and PaPa Hadley's in Southlake; then, on to Aunt Treyc's in OKC where we visited GiGi and Great Great Grandma Dennis; then, we stopped at Lake Eufala for the 4th where we got to see some great firewords (thanks to Uncle Trevor) and hang out with Great Grandma Terry, Great Grandpa Brown, and Aunt Kacey; then, on to Nana and Papa's in Stroud for Sunday night church; and finally, lunch with Great Grandma and Great Grandpa Hadley, Uncle Rodney, Aunt Christy, Cody and Cassidy before stopping for the night at PaPa Hadley's. Weston did great on the road, sleeping most of the time he was in the car. We are so blessed to have such a wonderful family and are so thankful for the time we are able to spend with each and everyone of our family members.

Fun in the Spa

Silky Dog

My new favorite toy! I have to have it to go to sleep. I love the way it feels on my face and I occasionally like to chew on it!

3 Months

Weston will be 3 months old next Sunday. Time is absolutely flying! We went for a check-up last week because Weston caught a cold. While at the doctor, we discovered that our precious baby is now weighing a whopping 15 lbs and 4 ounces! (Yes, he's practically the size of a 6 month old) Weston is doing great! He recently discovered his hands, so he is sucking on them constantly. The pictures above are from our trip last weekend to Dallas for Aunt Macy's second birthday. We forgot Weston's bathtub so we had to make due with Aunt Brooke's kitchen sink.

Shannon & Aiden

Shannon and Aiden (almost 4 yrs) came to visit us. We had a great time together. Aiden especially enjoyed chasing Brady all over the house. Weston couldn't keep his eyes off of them!

Fightin' Aggie Class of 2030

Weston in his first Aggie gear!

2 Months

Weston turned 2 months old on Friday. He is continuing to grow into a healthy little boy. At our doctor's visit on Wednesday, he weighed 13 lbs 2 ounces and measured 23 1/2 inches long. He is doing everything a normal 2 month old baby should: he coos, smiles, and grasps anything within reach. He's been a little under the weather the past couple of days because he has been having to take medicine to prevent chicken pox. Mommy got too stressed out and her immune system got run down and she caught a case of shingles. So, to prevent Weston from catching chicken pox from Mommy, he had to take some medication. But, he's almost done, just one more day. Other than that, he is a happy and healthy baby.

Hurst Family Visit

Matt's mom and dad are in town taking care of Weston while Amber goes back to work for the last couple weeks of the school year. This weekend, Matt's brother, sister-in-law, and nephew also came in town to meet Weston for the first time. Weston loved being held by each and everyone of his family members. What a blessing to be loved by so many people!

Astros

Weston attended his first Astros game. He was alert and wide-eyed the entire game, just taking everything in. We will definitely be taking him to more games in the future. Hopefully the next game he attends a game the Astros will actually win.

1 Month Old

Weston turned 1 month old on Tuesday. He is now spending 4-6 hours per day wide awake. During those 2 hour wakeful stretches he coos, smiles, focuses on objects and swats at toys (we're not sure if the last achievement is intentional or just coincidental). At the moment, Weston's favorite thing to look at is the ceiling fan in the living room. He's still having a little trouble letting Mommy and Daddy get more than 3 hours of sleep at a time. Hopefully he'll be able to sleep for longer stretches real soon; otherwise, Mommy and Daddy might permanently remain in a zombie-like state. But, regardless of the amount of sleep we get, we are enjoying every minute of Weston.

Crawfish 101

Weston attended his first crawfish boil. Daddy instructed him in "Crawfish Eating 101". Also, Weston had his first playdate.

Play Time

Weston is enjoying his play mat (courtesy of his Aunt Macy). He's learning to play with the giraffe and look at himself in the mirror. We're working on getting him to like playing on his tummy (we want to develop those essential skills for crawling ;)!).

Weston Goes Green

In an effort to do his part, Weston is sporting his organic cotton onesie for Earth Week.

Dressed Like Daddy!

We went to a barbeque at Rob & Lori's and decided that Weston and Daddy needed to dress alike. Both wore their plaid shorts and beach shirts. (Thanks, Aunt Brooke, for the awesome shorts!)

Discovery Green

We recently took Weston to see Houston's new park, Discovery Green. He slept for most of the trip, but we managed to snag him from his carrier for a few pics.

Weston at 3 weeks...

Weston had his 2nd doctor appt yesterday and he now weighs 9lbs 10 oz and is 21 in long. The doctor was so impressed, she said Weston doesn't need to see her again until he's 2 months old.

Two Week Pics

Weston is changing daily. At our last doctor's appointment (April 11th) he was 2 ounces shy of his birth weight. We definitely think he's surpassed that weight now. We have another doctor's appointment today and will find out exactly how much he's grown. Matt thinks he's up to 9 pounds. I'm not sure about that, but it could be possible given the amount of time he spends eating everyday and the little rolls that are developing on his arms and legs (they're too cute!).

Weston Olen Hurst - Born April 6th, 2008

Hi everyone! Well, we finally decided to join in the fun and start a blog so friends and family could keep up with all things WESTON.
